Chotila is a small town with one big reason to visit: darshan at Shree Chamunda Mata Temple on the hill. That makes choosing where to stay simpler than in most places: the right hotel in Chotila is the one that makes the temple, the road and a good night's sleep easy.
Stay close enough to walk to the temple
Most pilgrims start the climb before sunrise, when the steps are cool and the queue is short. A hotel within walking distance of the temple means no taxi at 5 am and no worrying about parking near the steps. It also makes a second visit in the evening easy, when the view from the hill is at its best.
Stay near the highway if you are driving through
Chotila sits on the Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway, and many guests are breaking a longer journey to Saurashtra or Kutch. A hotel on the main road saves you from navigating narrow lanes late at night, and lets you get back on the road quickly in the morning.
The best location does both
Akash Palace sits between the temple and the highway: a short walk to the foot of the hill, and directly on the main road. You can see the route from our door to the temple before you arrive.
What to look for in a room
- Air conditioning: essential from March to October.
- Hot water early: you will want a bath before darshan, not after.
- Room for the family: pilgrimages are often three generations travelling together, so check family room sizes.
- Food on site: after the climb, a hot Gujarati thali downstairs beats searching for a restaurant.
- Someone at reception at night: buses and late drives arrive at all hours.

When to book
Navratri and the festival months bring the largest crowds, and rooms across Chotila fill weeks ahead. Weekends are busier than weekdays all year. If your dates are fixed, send an enquiry early and we will confirm availability and a price.
